Yes Christmas, but MY CAMERA is almost here! I'm so excited I could peee! I finally ordered it on Sunday night really late, and I just checked it's status on the UPS site, and it is here in town! Now I just have to stay home all day and wait for the delivery!! I don't know what to take a photo of first - maybe a blizzard? Heehee! And snow on Christmas too!
When my Daddy passed, he left me a little bit of life insurance money. Most of it went to that woman he was living with, but I got just enough to give my kids a nice Christmas, and get my camera. I feel a little sad, I have to admit, because now it's all gone and he won't be here to share the excitement with me. Daddy's absolute favorite holiday was Christmas, and he loved to give more than anyone ever loved getting. It made him so happy just to sit and watch us kids open our presents - that twinkle in his eyes just a' shinin'. I miss him so much. Part of me is still in denial I think, but I hope more than anything that he is up there watching, smiling, as we all enjoy such an awesome weekend. There will be a great feast, family togetherness, and lots of screaming happy kids running around thanks to him. Another plus is that since I run my own little freelance business, I get to take the camera as an exemption on my taxes - Whooooot! Ok, so I'm going to go stalk for the UPS man now! Hopefull later I can post a few new photos!!!

COOKIES A LA MONDRIANISH

What did I do all week? Oh yeah - I baked. A lot. I even mailed a box of these to my Gramma in Tennessee, and am now waiting on word to hear if they arrived all in one piece, or if she got a box of crumbly goop! I wish I could have sent a box to all my bloggy friends, but postage has gotten completely out of control expensive these days!!
I am trying my best to be nice for the holiday season, but I would really love to send a box with a few bottles of the best hair loss products tucked inside to a certain someone I know. I can't seem to get my feelings in check when it comes to that person. I have a little bit of anger built up inside that I don't know if it is justified or not, but meh... what do you do?
For the happier moments, we delivered boxes to our neighbors last night, then went out to look at the luminaries across town. So pretty, but tooooo cold to be outside for very long. Today's activities include: cleaning the house - yay, - and taking a trip to the mall for the raffle drawing. It would be way cool to win $2000 bucks for last minute shopping. I think I would have to buy my kids all new shoes, first and foremost. Come to think of it - I have to get Shane Michael some today anyhow, cuz he blew his out playing soccer. He scored a goal for his team - so I can't even get mad! LOL!

SEASON OF BUSY BUSY

I don't know about ya'll, but I have had such a full schedule lately. The holidays seem to keep your hands and mind occupied quite nicely for the most part. I finally got all my shopping done, got all the Christmas cards mailed out, and I have been baking like a mad-woman all week long. Now I have to get busy on the goodie boxes, and get them all delivered....

Last week a couple of the nurses from Hospice called and asked me and Mar to come up for just a few minutes. When I got there, they had two boxes for us to unwrap, and each one contained this little guy. (The HippyClause in the photo...) I did my best to choke back the tears as they told us how they found him, and how much he reminded them of my Daddy. It was just the sweetest gesture of kindness, and every time I look at him, I smile....

Today I "get" to go to work at the store, then get busy with a ton more errands I need to finish before Christmas. I need to look at more plasma mounts for the ginormous TV I got, so we can figure out a way to put it on the wall and hook it up to my computer. I'm just giddy over the thought of playing Packrat on a 42 inch screen!! Heee! I am seriously addicted to that game - it's on Facebook - and you should play it. Yes! Tomorrow our city is having the annual "Luminaries" event, which I want to take the kids to go see. They have never been, and it is such a pretty sight. We also have to attend a nice raffle drawing at the mall - the winner gets 2,000 bucks to spend at the mall - I could do that!!

REINDEER POOOOO?

Wanna cookie?
Yeah. So the little kids didn't even help with this batch of cookies. Halie and I are just demented I guess. We were making gingerbread cookies and thought they might look funny with nuts. So is born - The Christmas Turd Cookies. Yes.

Thankfully, my son is just as demented as the rest of us, and thought it was mighty funny to be eating Christmas Turds. He's like "Ey Mawm! Take my picture!" Giggly butt he is. Riley was quite content to simply decorate the "real" gingerbread men we baked - then swiftly bite their heads off one at a time. So I found my perfect partners in crime this morning, my brother, and Halie - and the three of us totally went sledding while all the kids were in school. They are going to be sooooo mad!! BUT we had a total BLAST!! After the little hill, we moved to the overpass just off the highway. It was insane fun - just insane I tell you!! I have not had that much fun since I was a young girl! I promise - I will take the kids hopefully before the snow melts (because sledding on grass just isn't the same) and show them a good time! I am sure that all the folks driving by were wondering what in the hell three grown adults were doing out there acting like 10 year olds - but hey - you only live once!! AND - I can't wait to do it againnnnnnnnnn! Heeeheee!!!
Here's a little video for ya Momma!

So uhm now - I gotta go take a nice hot bubble bath - because I am old - and my body just ain't used to all that nonsense anymore. I have a big bruise on my leg and I think I broke my hernia, but other than that I might be ok!

A LITTLE BLIZZARDY

It snowed a little. But the kids are in school still and I'm afraid of what people would say if they saw me all out there sledding around with no children..... bummer.

The roads got a bit icky...

Mar taught me how to catch snowflakes on my tongue.....

TYE-DYED TOBOGGAN

DUDE! I got a tye-dyed toboggan!!

Now we just wait a few days to see if we actually will get to use it! Right now we are under a Winter Weather Warning, but all we are getting in my town is some freezing fog - maybe a few little flurries here and there. (Time for me to book those myrtle beach hotel reservations if you ask me...) Just in the past two hours, there have been tons of car wrecks around here because of the icy roads. I can't even count how many injuries there have been just around our town - bad ones too. I know for sure that two people have already died - I believe out on the highway. There seems to be a lot of people rolling their vehicles over. The town has known that this storm was coming all week long, but nothing was done to prepare the roads. Plus, people around these parts seem a little stupid. They just keep driving fast like nothing is going on, then wonder why they end up wrecked and hurt. SLOW DOWN already! For shits sake it IS Sunday - surely most people aren't going to be late for anything THAT important! Now the cops are asking everyone to stay home and off the roads, every wrecker service in the county is busy and backed up for hours, and all of our public service dudes are getting slammed. Now would NOT be a good time to have a heart attack!!

I LOVE IT WHEN STUFF THAT SAYS IT WORKS ACTUALLY WORKS!!

I am so excited about this stuff that I may actually pee myself! I am not being paid to say this, no one gave me anything for free, I actually went out on my own and bought this myself with my own hard earned cash. And it was worth every bit of the just about $18 bucks I paid for it too!
It's called Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit. I bought it at the Wal-mart on a whim - just to see if it would actually work. I don't have horrific acne, but a lot of blackheads and my face is always red and dry - no matter what I have tried.
So last night before I went to bed, I used all three steps of this stuff. It felt really tingly, but not in a bad way - refreshing really. When I got up this morning I could feel the difference in my skin, and I swear the redness was almost completely GONE!! This afternoon my soon-to-be-son-in-law came over for lunch and said he noticed the red in my face was gone too!! I am just soooo happy!! Halie was waiting to see if it would break me out even more or what it would do before trying it herself. She's all stoked about giving it a try herself tonight. Shane Michael has been having issues with big ol' zits, so we are trying it on him tonight too. Now if we could just find guaranteed weight loss pills we would be in seventh heaven around here!!

I just had to share. So far, Halie is the only healthy one in the house. I'm thinking she was so sick as a little one that she must have an immune system of steel by now. I got an email from the newspaper yesterday, and I have a photo shoot on the 27th for engagement photos. Since I am only working one or two days a week at the liquor store, this makes me pretty happy. I have been attempting to launch my own business (again) and basically I am just waiting for equipment, and searching for a business plan writer. I wrote my own in school for a pretend business, but I am finding that the real deal is way too complicated for my little brain. All that technical stuff aside, finding customers is the hardest part. This town is full of photographers, and finding my own niche is proving to be more difficult than I thought it would be. I do have a few people who want me to do photos, I just need to set the appointments up. With my mood the way it has been, I have been putting things off I guess. That old familiar fear of failure creeping in on me too. Someone please kick me in the arse....

BIG FAT CAT

My kitty is a very very bad little kitty. Only she's not so little anymore. I wonder - how much can one little kitty eat? Do they make appetite suppressants for bad fat kitties? All night long she runs and runs all over the house, knocking over any drink that was left out, digging in the trashcan, and eating human food out of it. She broke into her bag of cat food, ate out the entire bottom of the paper bag, and chowed down on at least three or four cups of it. I don't know how she can hold all that. Last night I heard a big ol' crash and boom in the kitchen - it was the cat - trying to chow down on the kids' Halloween candy!! If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

SURGERY:
Operations are now banned. As long as you are an employee here, you need all your organs. You should not consider removing anything. We hired you intact. To have something removed constitutes a breach of your employment contract.

PERSONAL DAYS:
Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturdays & Sundays.

VACATION DAYS:
All employees will take their vacations at the same time every year. The vacation days are as follows: Jan. 1, July 4 & Dec. 25.

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE:
This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead friends, relatives or coworkers. Every effort should be made to have non-employees attend to the arrangements. In rare cases where employee involvement is unavoidable, the funeral should be scheduled in the late afternoon. We will be glad to allow you to work through your lunch hour and
subsequently leave one hour early, provided your share of the work is done.

OUT FROM YOUR OWN DEATH:
This will be accepted as an excuse. However, we require at least two weeks notice as it is your duty to train your own replacement.

RESTROOM USE:
Entirely too much time is being spent in the restroom. In the future, we will follow the practice of going in alphabetical order. For instance, all employees whose names begin with 'A' will go from 8:00 to 8:20, employees whose names begin with 'B' will go from 8:20 to 8:40 and so on. If you're unable to go at your allotted time, it will be necessary to wait until the
next day when your turn comes again. In extreme emergencies, employees may swap their time with a coworker. Both employees' supervisors (in writing)
must approve this exchange. In addition, there is now a strict 3-minute time limit in the stalls. At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, and the stall door will open.

LUNCH BREAK:
Skinny people get an hour for lunch as they need to eat more so that they can look healthy, normal size people get 30 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain the average figure. Overweight people get 5 minutes for lunch because that's all the time needed to drink a Slim Fast & take a few diet pills.

DRESS CODE:
It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary, if we see you wearing $350 Prada sneakers & carrying a $600 Gucci bag we assume
you are doing financially well and therefore you do not need a raise.

Thank you for your loyalty to our company. We are here to provide a positive employment experience. Therefore, all questions comments, concerns, complaints, frustrations, irritations, aggravations, insinuations, allegations, accusations, contemplation's, consternation's or input should
be directed elsewhere.

Have a nice week.

Human Resources Department

DEAR SANTA....

Dear Santa Clause,
After receiving this photograph in an email from my mother, I have decided that I no longer want those nifty car accessories I asked you to bring me for Christmas. I think I am doing ok, but parts of me are still so angry. Other parts of me are very hurt. Sometimes I find myself crying over the simplest things. I just can't believe he is gone. A few days before he passed, I knelt beside his bed and asked if he would send me a sign that he was ok when he got there. If he could. He said yes he would. Of course I am quite the skeptic, so I sat around expecting some big ol' cardboard displays with lights and bells and whistles that spell it out for me ya know? Something concrete that I could actually wrap my head around. Everyone else seems to think that they have had their signs, whether it be the butterflies for Mar, or the turkeys for my brother. I WANT MY SIGN!!
So yesterday I finally pulled myself together to take a shower and get ready to go pick up my kids from school when the mail came. In the stack were the two life insurance checks. I snatched up Halie and got into the car to head to the bank, and as soon as I turned the key over - on the radio - was playing - "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Stones. It was the same song that was playing on the radio when I walked into the room and saw that he was gone. The song is funny to hear on the way to the bank, because I don't get to keep all that money. Daddy had a specific designation for it that I am to carry out, but I will get to keep enough to buy a new camera to start to help me grow my business. (You Get What You Need)
When I came out of the bank - turned the car over - radio on - "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath....

I could be wrong. It could just be coincidence. But I don't think so. It was my Daddy talking to me. I felt it in my soul....

BECAUSE WE ARE WIERD...

I think I may just use this as our Christmas invitations!! Each time I turn it on, I get sicker and sicker to my stomach, until I can no longer sit there and watch the chaos unfolding around us. The television - is giving me a mental disease for which there is no cure. (Except for maybe getting started on that hole digging project of mine and maybe stocking up on the MRE's..)
No matter what news station I watch, I know they are all telling half-truths, or flat out lies. I know that most are told what to say, how, and when, so it's not like we will ever get real information about most anything. Every media owner has their own slant, their own reasons for saying, publishing, or printing what they do. I would love to find the truth - cold and pure, but good luck with that one.
Lately I have read/seen/heard everything from sources that say there are alien lizard people about to take over the world (David Icke) to getting the H1N1 shot will be taking the mark of the beast. I have heard that everyone will be forced into taking the vaccination (I will not be doing that no matter what the consequences) and at the same time I hear that there is not enough vaccine to go around. In the mean time I sit here sniffling and coughing just like I do EVERY fall. I have heard that our schools will be setting up mobile vaccination clinics and forcing the shots on all our children without parental consent. Our own daily newspaper reported yesterday that the county in which I live has had it's first confirmed death from this flu. At the same time I have seen it reported that the hospitals and clinics won't even be testing people for H1N1 anymore unless they are hospitalized. The funny thing is that really - I am not afraid of the flu itself. What scares the shit out of me is big pharma. The fact that our own former secretary of defense owns A LOT of stock in Tamiflu (The supposed panacea for all flu) makes me a little bit itchy. Of course that's only the beginning because a few more big wigs up there in Washington own some too. Seeing the tangled webs that these people are all folded up in make me feel a bit vomity. But then again you never quite know about the information you get, whether it be the internet, the TV, or the actual printed news, so whatever.
Top the news off with the whole "End of the world in 2012" thing - and I am toast. I will sit in my corner of the world and make art with my toenails and used napkins until they take me away I guess. I will not be taking their shot, nor will I allow my kids to take it either. I won't take them out of school until I see that mobile unit roll up, or bring them home every time they get the sniffles. I will still go to the grocery store - although I will use the lovely sanitizing wipes provided for the shopping cart handles.....

HAPPY 10th BUBBY!!

I cannot believe my little boy is 10!! Yesterday was his big ol' birthday, and he had to wait alllll day long to come home and celebrate with all the family. He said it was like being tortured!!

We did the home made pizza making, and everyone got to create their own. Bubby chose the dinner - but by the time he got done opening his gifts, he wasn't really too interested in food anymore - he wanted to get straight outside to savor what was left of the day light!!

My first instinct for getting him a few science textbooks went right out the door, and I broke down with my original way of thinking and let him have his first gun. In all of my adult life, I have never allowed guns of any kind in my house. I always thought that there was no necessity in having them since food is so readily available at the grocery store. Now I believe that time may bring back a necessity, and I want my boy to know how to bring home the bacon so to speak! He is already making plans for taking a hunters safety course, and getting his hands on his first deer. Of course he says he prefers elk, but I don't think those run wild in Kansas.... LOL!

I told him last night - "You shoot it - you eat it." God forbid he accidentally hit a cat. I dunno how to cook those!! Hopefully he will be as responsible as I believe he is and stick to the targets. He was such a happy kid last night. I know he can't wait to get home from school today and go outside. It could snow 10 inches and be colder than snot and that boy would still be out there playing today!!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Why does all the best cheese smell like ass?

Knowing that it smells like ass, we sniff it to confirm it smells like ass, then we eat it anyway... Whew! Fun times had by all. It was so good to see my little niece and nephew - happy and smiling - it was so good to see everyone in a great mood! Amazing how horrible things can bring good things - lesson learned...

As if the holidays weren't already crammed close enough together, Shane Michael turns 10 on Thursday!! EEEk! Now that is scary! The only gift he asked for was to have his best buddy come stay the night. I normally don't do sleepovers because quite frankly I don't have the patience. I dread that whole staying up all night giggling and getting into stuff, plus I am old and need my sleep. But... another lesson learned - live while you are alive. So we will be having a sleepover provided I can contact the other boys mom in time. The school gave us a free directory of all the kids that go there, but I can't find it. I am hoping the two of them can get their info exchanged the old fashioned way - pencil and paper! He also asked for home made pizzas for his supper, so I have to get the shopping done for that too. I think the kids really dig making their own pizzas - it's fun! He's totally going to pee his pants when he opens his real present though. Oh yes I did - I got him the traditional "you are 10 now" birthday gift! (A Red Ryder BB Gun) And of course a zillion BB's and some targets. He did really well with the bow and arrow safety wise, so I think he will be good about his first gun as well. Never in a million years is he going to be expecting this - for sure!! I can't wait to see his little face!!!

IT'S SNOWING WHERE???

Ok, so this is a photo of the snow in Kansas from last year. But - in the North West corner of Kansas they have actually closed some roads and highways all the way to Colorado because of a blizzard!! In October! Weird. This whole entire month has just been overly surreal and odd. I am glad it's almost over. Seems like it's lasted a whole year already....

I wrote a letter to my landlord asking him to please install some copper sinks in the kitchen and bathroom. It would just cheer me up and make me love to do the dishes. Yes - I know - hysterical considering we don't even have heat. Another winter of space heaters for us. I have been looking everywhere for a new house, but everything is either out of my budget range - or makes this place look like a palace....

I picked up my Dad's death certificates yesterday from the funeral home - and dropped off my business card. I spoke with the gal who was like an angel and handled all of the arrangements for me for my Dad. I told her I could make memorial CD's for half the price of my competitor, and have them done the same day if need be. I also offered my services as a memorial photographer. If I am going to be in this business, I need to offer things that other people don't. I think that's one of them...

Off to work today - Halloween tomorrow. The kids are so excited! We won't be going door to door like in the "old days" except for the folks we know. There are many many organizations doing "trunks of treats" in our town, and we will stick to those. This world just isn't the same as when we were kids. Let's just hope it doesn't snow!

So down below here, you will find a player with a song that my Dad truly loved for many years. He exposed us as children to every kind of music on the planet, and sometimes, he would just burst out singing this one - specially on rainy days. Enjoy!

Rain, Rain, Beautiful Rain - Ladysmith Black Mambazo

FUN AT THE PUNKIN PATCH!

We took the kids out to the punkin patch this weekend to get away and have a little fun! The one we went to is just outside Turon, Kansas, and they have such an awesome farm. There is so much to do there, and we even had some snacks and hot apple cider.

Rye and Shane picked out a couple cute little punkins that will be perfect for pie at Thanksgiving. We had to tell Halie it was really just a gourd, but she thought it was cute anyhow. The boy next to her is Nate. He is the man of her dreams, and they have been stuck together like glue for months now. He is a mechanic, so him and my brother get along really good and have fun looking for Mopar parts together on the computer. Men and their cars - I swear... I really like him - he's a great guy and calls me Mom. It's kind of cool gaining a son like that. It tastes like cinnamon outside, and the weather is really cool. It would have been a good day to spend all wrapped up in a nice electric blanket, reading a good book. I didn't get to do that of course, but I did get a few things accomplished today. I took a shower. (I'm sure the neighbors are happy about that!) I fixed my phone line almost all by myself. Last night Mar came knocking on my door scared out of her mind that I had done something terrible to myself. My phone had broken and I had no clue till she showed up all panicked. Apparently the lines got a little wet when rain fell on them. (Yeah.) I wrote out some more thank you cards, and finished a project I was working on for the newspaper folks. I picked up Shane Michaels' birthday presents and hid them in my closet. He will be 10 on November 5th, and he is going to pee his pants when he opens his present. It feels so good to have something to be excited about! Tomorrow I am going back to work. Ready or not - here I come....
