THE BIG GIFT - SHANE STYLE

Shane's big gift this year turned out to be soooooo cool!! We had acquired a lab coat at Halloween time for use in his costume, so I washed it up, and adorned it with his name. We then proceeded to gather up all the ingredients needed such as vinegar, detergents, baking soda, and the likes, and put them into a box labeled "The Lab".

Then I put together a notebook just for him, with all kinds of pages full of scientific experiments you can do at home, with household things. Inside I also tucked in some home made coupons for computer time, and an exploration CD for the computer all about chemistry. Of course the box had to have little things like funnels and measuring devices, and even the standard set of test tubes and beakers!!

So far he has made his very own lava lamp using cooking oil, food coloring, and alka-seltzer, plus he learned how to shine old dirty pennies using vinegar and salt! The gift went over quite well, and now my little son is becoming something of a sponge, soaking up every ounce of knowledge about how things work that he can get his hands on. Next project: "Elephants' Toothpaste"!!

My first thought when I saw the lab coat was that you were making fun of his nuclear farts :)
All my kids like that kind of experiment thing too. They like to see how stuff works, keep on feeding the brain.
Too cool.
Love it!
