IRON BUTTERFLY ROCKS!!

IRON BUTTERFLY at Hutchfest! OMG - they put on one hell of a concert! I wish I could show you the video of just the song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida but it lasted for nearly 23 minutes!!

Shane Michael getting his shirt signed by the legendary drummer Ron Bushy.... It was all I could do to contain myself as I stood in front of him and shook his hand.

Halie asked Charlie Marinkovich to "sign her sister" LOL! He now plays the lead guitar and does vocals. He was just goooooooood and now Halie and Shane Michael are even more enthralled with learning to play guitar!

Oh yeah - and here is me (Totally cheesed out) with Martin Gerschwitz who now plays keyboards and does the lead vocals! (This man has played with everyone from The Animals to VanHalen!

We couldn't find Lee Dorman after the show, but WOW! - that man can STILL rock the bass guitar!

So I think I have broken my children into the big concerts correctly - Halie's first ever was Steppenwolf, and now Riley and Shane's first being Iron Butterfly!! I remember being a very little girl, and my Daddy would slap an 8-track in the stereo and play their music for me to fall asleep to. Talk about groovy - this was the MOST groovy concert I have ever had the honor to attend!! You can play the video down here to have a little listen to them playing "Easy Rider."

WHAT DAY IS THIS??

4:08 AM Posted In Edit This 12 Comments »
So tomorrow is mine and PPheads 12th wedding anniversary. I can't believe I have let him live this long......
I have asked for a cheap sewing machine instead of the usual flowers and other bullshit because - well I want a sewing machine!
Since we don't have babysitters and we don't really even like each other that much anyways, we are taking the kids and going to the Iron Butterfly Concert to celebrate on Saturday. He is also taking the boy child to the kids Bass Masters tournament, and I am taking the girl children to the Karaoke contest. It's festival time in our little town, so there will be lots to do this weekend! Most stuff is free so we will actually get to have some fun!
Also on Friday - we can start buying the fireworks!!! OH YEAH!!! Time to light things on fire and play in the dark!

REST IN PEACE GEORGE

I am so bored, staring at a pile of vinyl siding would be loads of fun this afternoon.....

Here's a picture I took of some weird bug in my flower garden. On a flower even. I don't know what he is but he's almost kind of cute. My life has been reduced to looking for bugs on plants. Ohhh no wait - took the kids to our summer movie program at the theater yesterday with Mar and her girls. We saw Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium. I don't know if I spelled that right, but anyhow it was a pretty cool movie. I think Rye and Journ got a bit bored, either that or they were just having more fun spending time together chatting. Halie's been working her butt off so she didn't go with us. This is her second summer working at the same place, so she is at least getting something good for her future applications. I think in the next few weeks she will be getting her hair all done and stuff and we will go out and do her senior pictures. I'm excited, but a little sad too. My baby's just about grown.....

You don't see this kind of stuff too often anymore! A soda machine that only costs a quarter.... and a young man on a PAYPHONE!! I didn't even know we still had any payphones left in this town! Super weird!

GROOVY COOLNESS!!

OK!! So my friend Spicy introduced me to this cool little thing called Entrecard last night!! You just go to the site, sign up your blog and put a widget on your sidebar. Talk about an awesome way to surf new blogs!! So far I have found every topic under the sun, from personal diaries to techy stuff, art, photography - the blogs out there are amazing!! If you want to sign up too - just click on my little widget over there and have a go at it! I am having a blast seeing the world without ever leaving my seat!!

This weekend we are going to go garage sale hunting (If the weather holds out...) and look for a storage cabinet for the kitchen. I need a pantry thing for canned goods and such because I am going to be stocking up on sale items, and also canning from the garden this year. I'm also hoping to find a slightly used set of crib bedding for my step-daughter. She's having a rough go at things as a single mom, and needs a lot of stuff she can't afford on her own. I have been there - I know what it's like...

We are also planning on heading out to the Salt Festival on Saturday to have some fun and see the fireworks. Of course I can't resist taking photos of those, so you know I will be putting 12 or 57 of those up next week! :)

Have a great weekend!!

KANSAS CLOUDS

Did a little storm chasing tonight!! This storm eventually produced a tornado warning as it moved off to the east. I didn't go that far......
It has been a very volatile week for sure. My thoughts and prayers to those who have suffered up at K-State, and others around the country who face such a huge recovery.

On a happier and kinda weird note - did you know you can use toothpaste for getting rid of zits, and also witch hazel for a natural acne treatment??
(I had to throw some weird in....)

THE HAIRCUT....

Yeah so I am a big baby..... She didn't even flinch!!
I am so proud of my baby girl.

She gave just a bit over 10 inches of hair - the perfect amount! She kept a small strand for her baby book.

Taaaadaaaaaaaaaahhh!! The new Riley!!
I think she is one of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen, and one of the most beautiful souls I have ever had the opportunity to have in my life!

*sigh*

The wierd one - is the hugemongo one on the top of the picture. I was at the grocery store the other night when I spotted it and almost peed my pants! Get that zucchini some diet pills quick!! The bottom two are "normal" sized, and the first two I was able to harvest from my garden. Mine are the size you are supposed to pick them for the best flavor supposedly. The funny thing is a few years ago, I didn't know that, and all my zucchinis were as huge as the top one. Then my MIL saw what I was doing and told me the "correct" time to harvest them. I just HAD to buy this one when I saw it. Truth be told - they all taste the same, but the smaller ones are best for eating raw and using in a good stir fry. Them big ones sure do make a mean fried dish though!!

PEACE IS FOR EVERYONE

9:45 AM Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

I just wanted to say a few things regarding the past couple of days of commenting on the Peace Globes. First of all - thank you to Mimi again, for hosting what I think is a wonderful event. Although I do not allow anonymous comments anymore, I do welcome everyone's comments on all sides of all issues that we talk about here. I know it would be so much easier if all the answers could be found in books, but they aren't, so the only way to find the answers we seek is to listen to each other and contemplate what everyone has to say. I don't have to agree to be able to listen, and believe me I will speak when I don't agree. Yes, Doc is an ass - but he's also my friend. We don't see eye to eye on this particular matter, but I value him as a person. I won't judge anyone by politics. With that said, thank you to everyone who commented, and voiced their opinion. Speaking up and speaking loudly is the first step to getting things done. This country would never have come as far as it has without folks willing to stand up and speak their minds! Sincerely, Kshippychic

OH HAIL!!

Last night's hail storm in my part of Hutchinson, Kansas! Be warned - a lot of "OH SHIT" and potty words bein hollered!
"GET IN THE CLOSET KIDS!!"

Yes - I am a dumbass.... I ran out into the yard and tried to grab a few. Most of the hail stones were quarter sized, but they were kinda melty by the time I got them. (And yes I waited till it stopped before I went outside - I just got a little wet.)

This is what our BRAND NEW air conditioners look like now. I dunno how to get these things undented. We don't have renters insurance so.... yeah. The truck did end up with some damage, and the pool got a hole in the side. I patched it from the inside and the outside, so hopefully it will hold up for the summer at least.

I know a lot of folks got even bigger hail around Kansas, and my heart goes out to you all. There were also some tornado warnings, but I hadn't heard if anyone was hurt. Lots and lots of property damage - again. I guess that matching pair of Sector watches is out for me an Halie - at least until we pay to have all this junk fixed!!

WEIRD NOT WEIRD....

7:01 PM Posted In Edit This 2 Comments »

Oh thisssssss is what they mean by Hilton Head rentals??? We rent the heads and put our faces on them?? I dunno either. Mack looks rather fashionable I would say. Heeheee!!
So we got the pool all up and ready to go - and yeah - it rained and stormed and threw down some big ol' quarter sized hail. I have a little video and some photos of the hail I picked up out of the yard tonight, but I can't get them off my stupid camera. Everytime I try to download it, my computer crashes. It's just a dumb little easyshare even. I don't have a card reader or I would have just used it. But I don't have one. So no photos until I can get the dang thing to work. It was kind of scary here for a few minutes - stuffed the kids in the closet again because the hail was so big. No damage that I can see to the truck, but I haven't ventured out to look at the garden yet. *Sigh*

INSANE MARKETING!!

10:10 PM Posted In Edit This 4 Comments »

So Taco Bell must have a group of insane-0 folks working for them or something. These are the hot sauces that they ram by the handfuls into your take-out bag. My personal favorite - the mild sauce quote, "At night, the sporks pick on me." These actually came with our tacos. "I collect straws." We even had one that said "Will you marry me?" Can you imagine some guy proposing to his girlfriend with a packet of hot sauce from Taco Bell???? It would either be very silly romantic - or crazy cheapskate idiotic. I can't decide. Hell - I can't decide if I like the fact that my hot sauce is talking to me......
