So uh.
Yeah.
Six year olds,
are weird.

IT'S NOT A WEEEEED...

12:21 PM Posted In Edit This 5 Comments »

It's pertiful! Plus you can make dandelion tea out of the flowers and greens. Hell you can even eat the greens in a salad. My great-gramma used to do it. She said it helps with menopausal hot flashes. Weird eh? Of course she made tea out of cocklebur too and used to paint her house like 10 times a year in all kinds of weird colors....

URRRRRRRRRGH!!! PACKRAT!!!!!

8:36 AM Posted In , Edit This 10 Comments »

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD!! Yes I have found something even more fun than beer pong tables on college night. It's called "Packrat" and it is located on the dear FACEBOOK!! Thanks to my Canadian friend Kari, I am hooked on this insane card crack. You go around and try to collect a set, but you end up stealing from your friends, begging like a whiny puppy for certain cards, and staying up half the night trying to find what you are after....

I need this stupid little beatnik to complete my "Dark Roast" set. I need him bad. I know - so wrong....

I also need this one tube of toothpaste to complete the set I started when I first started playing. I'm sorry Mackey - I stoled yer toothpaste. But I need another one... just.one.more....... beg beg beg.

Ya'll gotta try it. I thought it was stupid at first. I didn't think I would like it. Then I did. Now I can't stop. I need help. Or just some toothpaste. OOH and they have a BIBLE for playing tooooo! (Thank you Kari!!!!) OK gotta go now!

Come play the gaaaaaaaaaame.
At niiiiiiiiiight.

OIL INDUSTRY CORRUPT, GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CARE

9:29 AM Posted In Edit This 3 Comments »

What a crock of shit. I am so insanely angry - at the oil companies, the government, the war, the vehicle industry, the gas stations - and myself. How could we as a nation let it come to this? How could I have been so stupid as to not buy a horse and buggy years ago? Hell, now everyone will want one, and the prices of horses and buggies will skyrocket. Demand will outweigh supply. More people will be killed on motorcycles cuz more people will buy them. Mopeds will cost as much as a new car. Restaurants will sell their used french fry oil for $3 a gallon just to undercut the gas companies a little, and make a huge profit on what they used to just throw away. But that used oil will still be a luxury afforded only to those with lots-o-cash. Cops can't afford to patrol, so maybe there will be less speeding tickets - and more wrecks - and more people stealing gasoline. Soon, people will be murdering each other over pop tarts and a gallon of milk.....

CHANGE IT UP NOW YA'LL

2:30 PM Posted In Edit This 4 Comments »

Firstly, thank you everyone for the Birthday wishes - on the blogs, on the answering machine, and the calls I was actually home for!! Ya'll made my day!

Now it's time I think for a little twisted humor for the summer. I dunno if anyone will really think it's funny, but that's ok - at least it will all be weird. Very weird. Must do more weird things daily. So for a while I am putting most of the family/kid photos/home stuff on Purple Shade of Black - at least until my weird mood passes. I dunno either.....

These - are the gloves that Marny stoled from the clinic biopsy room while I was getting worked on. Nothin like a good souvenir to lighten the mood eh? I'm Lucy of course!!

IT'S GARDEN TIME BABY!!!

8:14 AM Posted In Edit This 12 Comments »

Oh yeah - gotta zucchini - Oh yeah!!

My taters are lookin pretty good I do say!

I put in about 24 tomater plants, and only lost one in all the storms we had (so far).

Mostly an overview of what my small little piece of earth looks like this morning. I have a lot of seeds planted that haven't popped out of the ground yet. I also have a little herb garden and a patch of corn up next to the house, some strawberries, and a TON of sunflowers - the seeds for those came from last years planting.

So far in the garden we have: peas, green beans, tomatoes both yellow and red, potatoes, onions, radishes, banana peppers, red yellow and green bell peppers, chile peppers, yellow squash, spaghetti squash, zucchini, eggplant, broccoli, cucumbers, bush beans, giant punkins, strawberries, corn, basil, dill, chives, oregano, cilantro, parsley, sage, garlic, and sunflowers. WHEW!

Next we are trying to figure out where to put the watermelon and cantaloupe, as we learned last year that they need a large space all to themselves. They take over everything! We also need to put in two rows of different kinds of lettuce so we will have a complete salad mix right out there in the yard.

I am hoping that by the Fourth of July celebration, we will be having fresh everything for the big party. Ain't nuthin taste better on a charcoal grilled burger than garden fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion baby!! Ohhhhh man - and home canned dill pickles!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMM!

THRIFTY BEGINNINGS

7:17 AM Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

Last week, me an Mar spent a couple of days scouring around town for good bargains at the Goodwill and such, and I ended up coming home with a new mattress for my bed for practically nothing! We were searching for coffee tables, now that I don't worry so much about the kids falling down and busting their brains open on one. My living room is empty in the middle, and I have been wanting one for them to sit and color on, or eat on if we have company, or even play games on. I found one at the Goodwill for $7.50, but it wasn't very sturdy. Today I am hitting the garage sales to go looking, and I really really want to find a cool octagon shaped one, or at least an ovalish one. Our whole neighborhood is having sales today, and I am hoping to find a stand alone pantry as well. I need some more storage space in the kitchen horribly. We are planning on having a sale soon too, maybe even putting a few things out this morning. The old mattress is definitely OUT the door!!

BIOPSY AFTERMATH

7:51 AM Posted In Edit This 7 Comments »

So this is what it looks like after 5 days. The biopsy site that is. Yup, my boob here. Still a bit sore, but NO CANCER thank you God.....
I know it's not so nice to look at, but it's truth in all it's glory.

KID PICS TIME!!

11:15 PM Posted In Edit This 5 Comments »

Here's the Halie with one of her bestest buds. Another friend of hers took the photo - so forgive the blur....

Riley and Shane each wrote their own "books" for Young Authors Night at school. Tonight we went and they read to us and handed out autographs! Notice Riley dressed to the nines in her little black dress for the evening. Heehee!

Me an my kiddos, Mar and her kiddos, my mother and my brothers' kiddos, all came out for the night. I ended up leaving with my mother and going out for coffee with her. I missed her so much. She's still nuts, but she's my mom. I don't want any more regrets in my life. At least not ones that I can see coming, and didn't do anything about.

My boobie hurts pretty good, and it's all swollen up. To me it looks like I had some kind of bizarro breast implant stuck in there, but Mar said it's really not that noticeable. I have a good bruise there and it hurts like hell to wear a bra or lift my arm up over my head. I should know something by Thursday, I am hoping the results will be back tomorrow. I hate playing the waiting game.

HAPPY MOMS DAY!

4:54 AM Posted In , , Edit This 5 Comments »

This is Momma Pete - Marny's Mom, and everyone else's Mom too. We spent the day out at her place for a Mother's Day cookout. There was Mar an Brent and Journey and Maddy, Me and my crew, and Dad and Judy (My Step-Mom, Brents' real Mom.)

Good ol' Daddy - pretending to BE my Mom! We had a lot of fun, and a TON of food. The boys grilled some chicken, hamburgers, and hot dogs and Pete made homemade chocolate cake and potato salad and baked beans... MMMMM. I totally fell off the no sugar wagon yesterday for sure. (Don't worry - I am back in the saddle this morning!)
The kids all had a blast playing outside running around. We adults did too - sittin in the sunshine having conversation. It was sooooo nice to be able to just rest and have fun for the day. Good food, good company.
Dad and I of course share the whole diabetic thing, and neither one of us have ever gotten around to getting a medical id bracelet. He has one for his heart, but not the diabetes. Mine is pretty much under control, as long as I remember to eat, but if I forget I usually end up in trouble. I have always been pretty safe, but I do worry about what would happen if I weren't around people that knew what to do. It would sure be easier for the medics to find that, rather than me trying to talk and end up having them amputate my brain or something. That would suck.....

I AM SOOOOOOO GOING TO BLOG THIS!!

I DID IT!!! I finally did it!!
After 14 years, 8 total semesters, and a cumulative GPA of 3.6, I graduated as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, with an Associate of Arts Degree and an Associate of Applied Science in Visual Communications Degree!! These last two years - this last chance I had to go back and finish what I started - I had 3 semesters of a perfect 4.0 and finished this last one with a 3.75. (I got a "B" in speech class.) I was on the Presidents Honor Roll for the first 3, and made the Deans List for this last one.

I am finally an Alumni.

I can not even begin to describe how last night felt. One minute I was crying, the next overcome with joy and pride. When I walked through the line of teachers I thought my heart was going to explode!! I had the absolute best of the best educators guiding me on my path to this moment. I could not have asked for more...

My brother said my mom cried as she watched me walk. I think I actually made her proud. Daddy stayed for the whole entire thing, and as soon as I walked off the stage I spotted him - I couldn't hold back the tears. For so many years I wished for this moment....

The "official" graduation photos should be up HERE in a day or two!

Now I gotta figure out what I wanna be when I grow up!!

AGAIN WITH THE LIGHTNING!!

5:37 AM Posted In , Edit This 9 Comments »

This spring has been rather electrifying I would say!! This one is from the storms that moved through last night. I got a bit closer than I should have really, got spooked and came home....

And OMG! I GRADUATE TODAY!!! I'm so excited! So far I am still waiting on two of my grades to come in. The three that are in, are A's, and I think the other two are an A, and a C or maybe a B. Speech class - I knew it would be the end of my 4.0 streak, but at least it won't ruin my membership in Phi Theta Kappa. I am just relieved to have finished it!

Thank you so much, for all of you who have supported me, encouraged me, pushed me when I needed it, and congratulated me. Tonight will be one of the proudest moments in my life, right up there with the births of my children. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to share some photos!

MEET FRANCIS BACON....

5:56 AM Posted In Edit This 6 Comments »
This is my new friend, Francis Bacon, who I named after this guy down here. (The painter...)

This Francis Bacon painted things like this down here. (My kinda guy...)

My Francis Bacon does not like to paint, but he sure does love his bananas. (Not chicken though - he hates chicken) My Francis Bacon was a graduation gift from my Mackey! She found him and took him to her house, where he was a very naughty monkey. I think it was just because she has so so many chickens, and he has a phobia about them, so he was just acting out. He has been a wonderful little monkey since he has been here, although he hasn't met Squidly yet. Nothing good ever comes from introducing new friends to Squidly, so we have kept Francis far away from such bad influences. I fear the days when the house is empty though and the chance that they might run into each other while I am gone. (I know I should have sent that creature to drug rehab a long time ago... he won't stay out of my pill box...) *Shudder*

I know that Squidly will pretend like he is being nice - until Francis ends up like THIS guy!!!

CLOSE YER EYES MACKEY!!!

Oh yeah! I went out and played in it!! I got inside the house just as it started to sprinkle, then all hell broke loose. We got some marble sized hail, but I have not gotten out to see about the vehicle damage yet. (If there is any...) Pretty loud stuff for a few minutes. Just enough time to probably destroy my garden. *sigh* You would think by now I would know not to plant things until later on! Ugh.

OMG YA'LL!!!

I WON!!
With this Photo!!

Imagine my surprise when I get home from the last long day at school and check my email, to find out that my photograph was one of only TWO winners selected in this contest!! My photo will be printed on greeting cards, and distributed all over the WORLD!!! I won $250 and will receive 10 of the greeting cards my image will be printed on!!

I am really super uber happy about this, but even better than the money or the win, is the cause behind the contest. Helping others is what it's all about. The contest was put on by Alternative Gifts International, and the money that they raise goes to help so many others around the world. I am most happy to play this small role in helping this cause!! When someone makes a donation to this effort as a gift to someone else, these cards are sent as the gift. Click on the link to check it out or make your own donation.

Meanwhile, I do have a few little things I might get for myself such as some new garden decor - I have been dying for a gazing ball for years so I am going to give myself a little treat to remind me of this awesome event. The rest - well, it will go for bills and groceries - but it couldn't have come at a better time!!!

Yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaawwww!!
