Yesterday I had the chance to sit in on my very first press conference with Mr. James Bradley. He is the author of the book "Flags of Our Fathers."

His book is the true story of the six men, including his father, who were photographed raising the flag at Iwo Jima in 1945.

His speech was about achieving success, and following your dreams. It was very inspirational. Afterwards, he signed autographs. It was a very cool day!! (I got his autograph too!)

WANNA STUDY WITH ME??

I went and got my stoopid hair cut today. Eight inches of it is gone now. No more hair in my ass crack. Tomorrow I am getting it dyed and highlighted. I figure what the hell - may as well go all the way with it. It's all layered now instead of all one length. I don't know if I really like it just yet. I wish I could have given it to the locks of love folks, but it was really crappy dead hair that had been fried too many times to count....
I don't even really know if I'm coming or going, but here I am anyways. Ya ever get like that???

END YOUR JANUARY HELPING OTHERS

Here is something to think about if you would like to give a tax deductible donation for the start of the new year of 2008, doing something good to help others. Car Angel Dot Com is a non-profit company that accepts your car donation, monetary donations, and other donations to make awareness videos for kids and teens. So far they have given away over 2.4 million videos and the money that is raised is used to make the videos! (Like this one above) The videos distributed cover topics from drug abuse (And how it is not the way to go) to sharing the story of Jesus, even translating some of those into Spanish. I particularly like the video above, as it tells the story of addiction, and how our kids today can avoid it. I think it might be something good to use as a film lesson in schools doing drug education as well. So, just a little informative post on how you can do something good at the end of this 2007, or start your 2008 with a bang.

THANKS A LOT ASSHOLE!

Some big giant asshead paintballed my truck and my house sometime over the weekend. I can't tell you how amazingly fun it was to have to call the cops and file a police report, on top of my already busy schedule. I just don't have the time or patience for this kind of bullshit in my day. Not to mention pink crap on my truck. Very pissy mood it puts one in....
I had to miss a class at school for this to file the report and go wash the ooze off the truck. Ten of my bucks down the drain - literally.

REAL ID ACT OF 2005 WTF???

8:04 PM Posted In Edit This 7 Comments »

Uhhhhhh.......

So is it just a coincidence that our U.S. passports have a big ol' picture of a satellite on them or what?? Is a magnetic strip considered a piece of electronic equipment or not?? I realize that I am almost always way behind in my current events, this time apparently a few years. So in May of this year, this "new" thing is supposed to happen with our ID's and stuff. Like someone told me that we all have to get a "World ID" and that if we don't - we won't be able to have a bank account, fly on an airplane, or enter into any federal buildings. At least maybe I will get out of jury duty that way??? (Cuz no flippin way am I going to consent to this kind of bullshit) This person told me that there will be a tracking device put into our drivers licenses as well. No. Fucking. Way.
That's what I said to him too. I don't really think they can do this. CAN THEY? I was told that if you don't get it - you won't be able to buy food or gas or.... uhhh my Gramma told me this kind of thing would be like the mark of the beast or something. So then my brain starts analyzing the bible thinking it must be a big metaphorical book of rules written by prophets who talked the big man. Or something.
Then someone else says that this whole issue is why they won't let Ron Paul in on any of the presidential debate shit on the news. Because he is opposed to this. I haven't heard a shitten thing about this bill on the news. IS the news really controlled by the government in the USA too?? I mean really - you have news folks bashing the prez every day so if the government really controlled the media then they wouldn't be able to say out loud that GW is the anti-christ right??

SO I decided to nose around a bit, and all over the net is "info." One side sounds a bit freakishly paranoid, the other sounds way under concerned. So what's real and what isn't. Has anyone else heard about this shit? What's your take on it. Alls I know is that it's enough to make me fly straight off into a manic panic and truly stockpile antibiotics and yogurt..... bust out the beer pong tables already......

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY LITTLE ONE!!

9:17 AM Posted In Edit This 8 Comments »

I can hardly believe this was my baby girl just a few years ago. Today she is 6 years old!!
We'll be having a little family celebration this afternoon with cake and ice cream and all. When she woke up this morning, she asked me if she looked a little bit taller! LOL! Of course I said yes I thought so.

What a beautiful princess you are my little love.... a happy little miracle in my life. I am so glad that I was blessed with getting to be your mommy!
Happy 6th Birthday Riley!

PICK OUT MY CLOTHES

7:28 AM Posted In Edit This 4 Comments »
I need to go get some "professional" looking outfits. Like today. I hate shopping. I think I am going to go to the Goodwill and see what they have though. My Linkin Park T-shirt and jeans just aren't going to cut it anymore. I can't wear pantyhose though. Eww. Yesterday I put on make-up, and spent the whole day trying not to rub my face off. I think I look funny in it. And it feels so odd. I have been doing my hair this week too. Blow drying it anyway so it looks more managed. It all feels so foreign. I'm a girl - so I should be liking this stuff right? I think I need to cut my hair - at least some of it. But I have had almost the same hairstyle since I was like - born....
Oh yeah - if anyone needs a popup blocker - click the link. Gawd I hate those things....

BUSY BUSY BUSY EEEEK!

I have made it through the first week of school - after today's classes - and it was barely a taste of what is to come. I'm not sure how I will stay awake for it all, as I can't exactly figure out when it is I will get the chance to sleep! I like all of my classes except speech - but at least the teacher seems cool. I also got an internship with the newspaper!! YAY!!! I'm really really super excited about that! I love the atmosphere and the constantly changing work. I'm going in today to see what times I will be working. I am also going to take on another internship with the school's marketing department. I have to make sure I get 90 hours in, so between the two I should be good to go. I'm also on the magazine staff this year, so I get to do my own photo essay, and I am learning how that gets all put together. The kids in that class have been very kind to me, and are showing me how stuff works. PPHead is going to the midnight shift so he can be home with the kids while I am gone at night. This will be helpful for sure. He's being a good sport about it, though I'm not sure he's completely happy about the idea of me being gone all hours of the day and night. It's only four months.... Thursdays seem to be the roughest day, mainly because I have a class from 6 to 9 at night. It just makes for a really long day. Even still, I am loving all of the hands on experiences - and the painting - oh the painting!! Hopefully soon I will be able to share some cool artwork with ya'll!

BOGGED DOWN WITH BOOKS

Four more months. I have to keep telling myself it is only for four more months. My school schedule this semester is crazy full. From 7:15 in the morning until 3:15 in the afternoon, I will be out of the house and in school. And I have a 6 to 9 pm class on Thursdays as well. The great part about it is that not all of my time will be spent in a classroom. I will be running around all over campus doing work for the Magazine, up and down the stairs - a lot, and working in the marketing department for my internship. At this rate I don't suppose I will need the hydroxycut (although my friend lost a buttstack of weight using it) after all. All this running around should do the trick, along with all the salads I have been eating. I want to be down at least 40 pounds by graduation. At least.
So far I think I am going to love "Color" class, mostly because we are going to be painting. Ok and for the hot nerdy teacher that I used to love/hate but now I mostly think he's pretty cool. Speech class will be my downfall, but the teacher seems funny. She's got a potty mouth - which I love - but I have to buy some church clothes for the days we give speeches. I just hope I don't puke in the middle of mine. I loathe public speaking. I always have to wander if I am really talking in the first place, and then I end up saying something totally stupid like "I got new pencils." Oh well. I am trying to go into this last stretch with the most positive attitude I can find in me, and make the most of it. I can't believe how quickly nearly 2 years have gone by already. I got my graduation application papers in the mail yesterday. All will be completed after this semester, and on May 9th, 2008 - the journey I began in the spring of 1994 will finally be complete. I will finally walk a stage in a cap and gown, shake hands with someone important, and receive my AA and AAS. One life long dream - to graduate from somewhere - will be completed!!

PARDON ME.....

4:52 PM Posted In Edit This 4 Comments »

A while back, I was asked if I would give these two mustards by Grey Poupon a try, and give my honest opinion of them. Since I made bierocks this afternoon, I figured it would be a good time to give this mustard a try, and also give it a shot on the rest of the family. I was sent a sample of Harvest Coarse Ground, and also one of Hearty Spicy Brown, to review.

I tried them both straight away on my sandwich, and as mustards go - I liked them both. The coarse ground was my particular favorite, but right away I knew it could better have been eaten on a nice prime rib or roast beef sandwich. Oh. Yeah. Yummy! It has a flavor with a horseradish kind of kick to it and is rather spicy. Not one of my three kiddos liked it at all - they each ran for a glass of water pretty quickly. So maybe not the mustard of choice for kids, but I kind of expected that one.

The Harvest Spicy Brown went over rather well however, with 2 out of the three kids saying they liked it, and both myself and my husband liking it too. It has a bit of a sweeter taste I think, and not quite as much hot to it as the other one. We usually use a spicy brown mustard on our hot dogs and hamburgers, but the Grey Poupon has a better taste than our usual variety. I would definitely use it again, and recommend it to others.

As you can probably imagine, most of the day at our house has now been spent re-enacting that famous commercial: "Pardon me, have you any Grey Poupon?" Some things just never stop being funny to me I guess! :)
(Imagine a bunch of redneck/hillbilly/hippytypes with fancy mustards!)

BUNNIES!!

SOMETIMES....

4:25 PM Posted In Edit This 7 Comments »

Sometimes I get so frustrated with the way things are. Wanna change them, but there's no place to start. No one will listen. No one notices. No one cares. Sometimes I want to just hop on the treadmill and run and run and run until the motor burns out of it. But I can't run because I would end up with two black eyes and an asthma attack. No place to start. No one to listen. How can you change anything if no one cares but you?

WHAT'S WRONG WITH PATRICK??

So.
Wrong.

STOP LYING TO ME

8:03 AM Posted In Edit This 7 Comments »
I dunno about ya'll, but I am so sick of seeing, hearing about, reading about, and listening to this election crap. Yadda yadda it's part of our democratic system of voting in a new president blah blah blah..... all of em ought to be given nice engraved plaques for bullshit kings of the century. Once again that great ol debate has me thinking "what's the flippin point?" So we all go and vote (which I will still do) and then the electoral votes will decide who gets to be president anyway. So even if everyone votes for Obama - which is looking very good, those electoral bastards who are paid off by whoever has the most money will cast their votes for who they are told.
So someone tell me why the people are asked to vote, when the people's vote doesn't make two shits of difference?

TRY THIS AT HOME ART PROJECT!

12:57 PM Posted In , Edit This 7 Comments »

This was a really awesome assignment for my Art Appreciation class! Everyone should try it - even if you don't have children. The assignment was this:

Pick 4 types of music to listen to.
For each type of music, use watercolors and a separate sheet of paper.
Paint what you feel in the music.

These four were mine.....

These four were Riley's....

And this is a side by side comparison of what each of us "felt" in the music!
I like Rye's the best! :)

It was really fun to do, not too messy, and the little one got an art lesson and had absolutely no idea! Try it!
