IMMUNIZATION DAY!!

12:43 PM Posted In , , Edit This 5 Comments »

Shane Michael - very brave - no tears - he watched.

Riley - very brave - no tears - just an "ooch" - she watched.

Halie - "No wait! Get me outta here!! OOOOOOOW SHIT!"

We took the kids for their immunizations this morning to get them all ready for school. They only needed a Hepatitis A shot each, which is not required for school, but with as many people out there who don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom - I say better safe than sorry. About 6 years ago, here in Hutchinson, some nasty chick at the Sonic spread Hepatitis A all over the community serving food with dirty poopoo hands. PPHead had to go stand in line for a shot back then because he happened to eat there. Thank god I was craving McDonalds that day! In other news... I'm calling the realtor again today to see if anything new has come up on the market for rent. Wish me luck!

WHAT WE DID THIS WEEKEND

9:26 AM Posted In , , Edit This 7 Comments »

My favorite "artsy" pic of the weekend - a dragonfly kept landing on Daddy's fishin pole - I guess he wanted to join in the fun! Click pics to enlarge.

Shane at Sterling Lake with his big catch for Sunday - he thinks he is so cool!! I didn't catch a thing - nope nuthin!

My PPHead in his favorite position!

Shane trying to be patient - but singing - "here fishy fishy fishy..."

Riley with her princess fishin pole - she was using hot dogs for bait. After about 20 minutes of that, she got out the crayons and paper LOL!

Halie found a little friend. I don't know how she gets the lizards and frogs to do what she wants them to like that - but she has a way with them alright.
THE END - scroll down for the beginning.
Now it's Monday - Back to the grind.

STERLING INN AT STERLING, KANSAS - YUCKY!

8:59 AM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

OK - so we thought hey - $54 for a motel room ain't bad right? The outside of the place when looking from the road looks deceptively nice. We got a room all paid for and got the key.... and then we went inside. The SMELL in there made me totally nauseated. I couldn't breathe, we all kept sneezing and the place was absolutely disgusting. The carpets were gross, I wouldn't even sit on the toilet for all the money in the world. We would have been better off in a tent with bugs crawling all over us! There was no way I could stay in this place and actually sleep in those nasty beds. This is probably the worst motel I have ever seen the inside of. At this point I was so mad at myself for being so stupid as to not ask to SEE the room before we paid for it!

WHAT A HEADACHE

8:58 AM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
We are so disputing this with the credit card company - they already have this under investigation! Sometimes, my stoopidness amazes even myself. Jeesh!

STERLING INN SUCKS REALLY BAD....

8:57 AM Edit This 2 Comments »

Halie was so grossed out, she put her jacket on, and refused to sit down. Yes, these are the same people that put worms on their faces and play with fish. I swear the smell is what finally drove us to pack up and go home. Oh yeah, and there was no ice machine, no way to control the air conditioning to the room, and apparently not enough IBM memory in the sleazy clerks' computer to issue us a refund. We are going to have to dispute the credit card charge I guess, I don't know how you would fight something like that. Needless to say we were there about an hour, trying to pretend that we were "roughing it" but ewwwwwww there were more bugs inside than there were outside!!

So if you are ever ever in Sterling, Kansas - Please take my advice and keep driving to the next town if you need a motel room!!
Sterling Inn (620) 278-3291 / 430 S. Broadway Sterling, Kansas
Don't stay here!! Be afraid.....be very very afraid!!

Sunday we ventured over to Sterling, Kansas for some more fishing at Sterling Lake. The place is just gorgeous, and it's clean and kid friendly. The folks who take care of it do an awesome job!
So this is PPHead catching the "big one" LOL!!

MORE FISHING PICTURES!

Shane's little fish he caught! Riley wanted to show it to the worm she'd been playing with all day. Eww.

Riley's "worm mustache" - I swear this child has no fear!

Shane manhandling his about to be bait worm. PPHead smokin and fishin - all the while moaning about losing his Wiley X sunglasses in the river. They were his good pair afterall! Scroll down to see how the rest of our day went! We are off for another day of adventure!

FUN IN THE SUN FISHIN'

8:38 AM Posted In , , Edit This 9 Comments »
Oh the joys of summer! We went to Harvey County Park West for the first time, and it was a really nice place for camping and fishing. Some guy caught a 32 pound flat head there just recently! We ended up deciding not to camp because of the thunderstorms. We had a good time though, and Shane reeled himself in a little bass!

Halie and I had to giggle when we were buying our worms! Wal-mart gets their night crawlers from Canada!! Heeheee!

I didn't think I would have to buy my child insurance just to go on a little fishing trip. This mean lookin' snake would not go away. He kept eye-balling us and trying to sneak up on the bank. I got kinda flippy at that point. Snakes make me skeered. Dad said he thought it might have been a water moccasin, which are deadly poisonous.

Halie's big catch of the day - an itty bitty sun perch! LOL! She caught that one with a worm after spending most of the day using rattletraps. Man the fish were jumpin all around and making that water bubble. They must all be smart fish because we tried everything!

My favorite photo of the day. Riley and Grampa fishin side by side. Reminds me of him and I when I was a little girl, except I never had a princess fishing pole!

SATURDAY SILLY SEYMOUR & HIS TURKEY FRIENDS

8:53 AM Posted In , Edit This 3 Comments »

I think our yard has turned into some kind of animal refuge! While we have been packing this morning to go fishing, we have had all kinds of visitors, including this wild turkey!!

Um, ok - this whole family of wild turkeys. There must be at least 15 of them out there - most of them little babies. IN MY BACKYARD!!! LMAO!

See here our crazy squirrel on the garage roof again. He jumps off the roof, down into the planter I filled with food for him and the birds, eats like a pig for a few minutes, then....

FINALLY he finds the old bread I threw on the garage roof for him! Stoooopid squirrel! What a crazy morning at the Hippy House!!
Have a great weekend ya'll!!!

LANDLORDS SUCK

7:59 AM Posted In , Edit This 0 Comments »

We are going camping. To get out of this stoopid house. And we are gonna catch some fishies.
Last summer while the Mackey's were here, my airconditioning broke down, so my landlord finally installs a new front screen door. Yes it sounds insane but thats the way he works. I have been complaining about my bathroom sinks leaking, some major leak in the bathtub plumbing, and the fact that the floors are starting to warp, for over a year now. Last year he also promised us a new solid door for the front as well, and we have yet to see that. It makes me so mad I could rip my hair out of my head. I have gone so far as to call the real estate company and see if there were any other homes on the market for rent in our area, or the possibility of a house in our price range. Nothing. We are pretty much just stuck here. What can you do really? We cant afford a big expensive like the ones being built down the street. It gets so frustrating calling and writing the landlord, asking and begging for work to be done here. If he would put in the work, it wouldn't be such a bad little place. We have even offered to help with them for free! He did stop by the other day, and had the gall to ask me if everything was ok. I'm like uhhhh NO! I think he saw the pool and got curious. Either that or he wanted to snag some of my tomatoes. We have lived here for over two years now, and the big window in the living room was at the top of the list to be replaced when we first moved in. Do you think it has been yet? Oh no. There are no laws in this city to protect renters really. The courts don't seem to care mostly, so that is nothing but wasted time and money. Yeehaw, another day in paradise.

HIT THE ROAD JACK....

7:44 AM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

We are so outta here this afternoon! Going camping and fishing at the lake. PPHead finally wrangled a weekend off work after almost a month straight with no days off. We are going to meet my Daddy and his wife up there, and hopefully the rain will hold off. The forecast says rain all weekend, but around here it is kind of hit and miss, so we are packing up the tents and the coolers and taking our chances. If it does storm, we can always hang out in the car. Maybe it will give us a good lightning storm?! Ya'll have a good weekend!

RECIPE FOR FLAX SEED MUFFINS!

6:49 PM Posted In Edit This 2 Comments »

FLAX SEED MUFFINS

1 & 1/2 CUPS WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR
1 & 1/2 CUPS GROUND FLAX SEED

3/4 CUP BROWN SUGAR
1 TBLSP BAKING POWDER
2 TSP APPLE OR PUMPKIN PIE SPICE
1 CUP MILK
1 CUP APPLESAUCE
2 BANANAS, MASHED
1 EGG - BEATEN

1 TSP PURE VANILLA EXTRACT

MIX WELL 1ST 5 DRY INGREDIENTS. IN SEPARATE BOWL, BEAT EGG. ADD MILK, APPLESAUCE, BANANA AND VANILLA - MIX WELL. ADD THE WET INGREDIENTS TO THE DRY AND MIX UNTIL MOISTENED. LINE MUFFIN TIN WITH PAPER LINERS. ADD 2 ROUNDED TABLESPOONS OF MIXTURE TO EACH. (TRY TOPPING UNCOOKED MUFFINS WITH QUICK OATS OR OTHER FAVORITE IF DESIRED) BAKE AT 350 FOR 20 - 25 MINUTES, OR UNTIL BROWNED ON TOP AND SIDES. SERVE WITH REAL BUTTER WHILE WARM, OR SAVE IN REFRIGERATOR FOR UP TO 2 DAYS, OR FREEZE!

The photos are of the muffins I baked myself. They were pretty tasty as well! Even my two very picky youngest children ate theirs all gone - and that is amazing considering they think a person can live off macaroni and cheese! Now I need to experiment with the recipe a bit and see what other yummy things can be thrown in, to vary the flavor some! Hmmmmm maybe some Ephedra for an added weight loss boost?? NOT! Ok so give it a try if ya want, and tell me what you think!!

TODAY FROM THE GARDEN

3:50 PM Posted In , , Edit This 3 Comments »

Today's garden blessings included a handful of salad tomatoes, one very large yellow squash and a few little ones, and yes yes yes some red ripe tomatoes!!! I also plucked a few that weren't quite ready, but that's ok. I also made some organic bug spray on the advice of a few fellow gardeners, and I am crossing my fingers that it will work. I wonder if Bobby likes tomatoes?

Some other great advice I got from Mackey, was how to ripen my green tomatoes in the house. All my life, passed down forever, we were taught to put unripe tomatoes in the window. Mack said to try putting them in a brown paper bag in the cupboard. It works! These here came from my paper bag, and I just put em up in the window for the picture. Further digging around told me to place them one layer deep, and cover them in newspaper, then place in a dark but humid place. Another tidbit if you didn't know, is never ever store your tomatoes in the refrigerator. It sucks out the flavor, and tomatoes should only ever be in there to be chilled. I seen Bobby's picture on How's Your News.

LET'S TALK ABOUT BOOBIES!

7:16 PM Posted In , Edit This 10 Comments »
Did I get your attention? Ok good, so we will talk about boobies, and a few other things today. As some of you may have read previously, I am going to experience my very first mammogram in a few weeks. Health practitioners and insurance companies recommend that you have them starting at age 40. I had a complete hysterectomy a couple of years ago, so I am in what you call post-menopause, and have made a discovery that requires attention. What scares me most is the thought of having breast cancer. My dear husband brought to my attention, some information he had heard about breast cancer and the use of flax seed as part of a cure. I did some digging around, and found out that researchers in Canada actually did a study that discovered eating one flax seed muffin a day for 30 days, reduced the growth index of cancer cells by almost 35% in women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Imagine a cure for cancer being so natural and inexpensive as a couple of months of muffins. As I looked deeper, I found that flax seed is said to also regulate blood sugar, help with weight loss, and completely cure constipation. Yipeee! I went to the grocery today and got a fresh batch of milled flax, and I am going to make up some muffins to try out. I'm going to experiment with the recipe a bit, because we all know if it doesn't taste good - no one is going to keep eating it. I am going to eat two muffins a day. One for breakfast, and one as an evening snack. I want to see if it will truly help with controlling my blood sugar. A little weight loss wouldn't hurt my feelings either. The big test for the month will be on my deary Ole Daddy. He takes a lot of narcotics plus an iron supplement for anemia, which tend to leave him a bit um - uncomfortable. If these muffins can make him make boom-boom, then that will be a miracle all by itself!

DAY ONE
This morning's waking blood sugar: 280 (BAD)
+ 2 Cups coffee
+ 1 Flax muffin
+ 1 Cup milk
+ Gluco, Estra, and Ativan
Can't wait to see what this experiment finds!

STIR CRAZY SUMMER FEVER

3:01 PM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
Sometimes, I just want to move out of this town, and find someplace else to settle in and call home. I even went so far as to check out some Las Vegas Real Estate. But I dunno if I could ever actually do it or not. Kansas is home, as boring as it seems sometimes. Maybe a different town, or a big farm, or some acres with a river running through it. I need something else. Just something I can make mine. Ya know?

TODAY FROM THE GARDEN

5:59 AM Posted In , Edit This 12 Comments »
This morning was quite pleasant out in the garden. I don't think I caught the West Nile Virus, even though I was eaten alive by about 4 thousand mosquitos. I got several nice pickling cucmbers, a handful of banana peppers, and a nice sized yellow squash. I noticed some squash bugs on my pumpkin though, and I don't know if there is a way to get rid of them without using a pesticide. I wanted my entire garden to be as organic as possible. I have heard that spraying a light mist of vinegar on the plants would help, but if anyone has any suggestions - my ears are all yours! My tomatoes are starting to turn!! YAY! WE had BLT's the other day and I swear one slice covered the whole sammich! Soooo sooooo good. My okra is setting on as well now. I can't wait to be fryin some of that up. My gramma used to make fried okra all the time - she's the one who got me hooked on it. When she passed away, I had to resort to getting my fix from Church's Chicken. They are gone now too. Sooooooo I had to grow my own! Yippee lets hope it tastes as good!
Oh yeah - me an Halie went to K-mart yesterday and read the last 2 pages of the new Harry Potter book. Eh... whatever. He didn't die. :P

I NEED TO WIN THE LOTTERY!

6:38 AM Posted In , , , Edit This 4 Comments »

Don't we all though? Our Powerball Jackpot is up to $82 million for Wednesdays drawing. Send me all the good luck fairies from the forest of the money trees ok?
All of the recent tragedies, natural disasters and such, are forcing up the prices of everything from gasoline to bread. Oh yea I said bread. Actually the price of anything that has wheat used in it's making will be going up drastically due to this years wheat crop being slim pickins. Milk jumped up by a buck a gallon in these parts, practically overnight last month. I don't know why, except maybe the price of the gas it takes to get it to stores. What I do know, is that my grocery dollars had better be able to stretch even further than they did before. Or we could just eat a lot of ramen noodles. *gag*
Just to enroll all three of my kids in school this year is going to cost me $365. Kindergarten is the most expensive because you have to pay up front for their years supply of MILK. Gimme a break. School supplies added another $150, and that doesn't even touch what I will need for my college courses. I am taking a drawing class and will probably need a set of pencils and bristol paper - neither one are cheap. Thank god Crayola and Elmers had crayons and glue priced at 20 Cents per unit. Oh then there are school clothes, and of course the shopping for shoes. They must have special tennis shoes for P.E. and a regular pair of shoes for just wearing. Add haircuts, eyebrow waxing and a pink dye job.... jeeeesh! The kids start back to school on August 16th, and my first day back is August 20th. I kinda cant wait. I am especially looking forward to the digital photo class. We will work on the Mac's, with full versions of Photoshop, and hopefully soon I will get a peek at InDesign as well. My tuition and fees? $1000 big ones, and I haven't even looked at what books will cost yet. Thankfully my student loans will cover everything I need, but I wonder how the school system thinks that I am to come up with so much money all in one shot? PPHead has worked 3 weeks straight without a day off, but even his overtime ain't gonna cut it. *Insert plea to the lottery fairies!*

In other news.... Did anyone see where a Liberian guy who repeatedly raped a 7 year old little girl got all of the charges against him dropped because a suitable translator couldn't be found for him after like 3 years of waiting for trial. Seems a bit fishy to me since when they arrested him, he was able to speak english and talk to his defense attorney about getting him out of jail. How in the hell a judge can just dismiss a case like that is beyond me. Just goes to show what a sad state our government and judicial system are in.... pathetic.

AND THE WINNER ISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.....

UNDERSTANDING THE IMPOSSIBLE

8:02 AM Posted In , , Edit This 17 Comments »

Old news I know, but this story about Michael Vick and dog fighting has had me feeling nauseated for days. Someone please tell me why a man with a good career and all that money would feel the need to watch two dogs fight to a very violent death?? Someone should let one of those fighting dogs loose on his little bitty balls. People that get off on that kind of shit are truly disturbed. Potential serial killers I would say. Just sick, stupid idiots.
I don't own any animals myself, mostly because I rent, and they are not allowed in my house because of my lease. If I could have animals, I would prefer a cat or a very small dog like a mini yorkie or something. Big dogs scare the crap outta me. When I was a kid, we had a german sheperd named Buffy. My kitten got too close to Buffy's food dish one day and SNAP! Dead kitty. Kinda traumatized a little. Regardless, I think any kind of cruelty or neglect of animals is just downright unexcusable. If you are going to own a pet, you should treat them like family. Furthermore, if you are one of those sick fucks that think it's cool to torture your animals - you should go to prison before you decide it's ok to then torture a human being. I hope this asshole's team kicks him off - if they don't - they aren't any better than he is.

I got a buttload of green beans. I am fixin on freezing some now, because there is just too many to eat before they go bad. I'm finally getting some good peppers, and hopefully soon my tomatoes will be turning red. When they do - and they will all at once I bet - I'm going to sell them on the corner..... Out of the back of the pick-up truck....
OH GO ENTER MY CONTEST!!

HUMP DAY YAY!

12:07 AM Posted In , Edit This 4 Comments »

I took Mack's advice and tried a few self-portraits yesterday. I can't seem to leave photos of me alone though, and end up screwing with them in one twisted way or another. Hair was in my face, but it looks kinda like a beard, which is what I am terrified of growing if I stop taking my hormones. The thought of my boobs being all cancerfied and falling off is scary too, and if I keep taking the hormones, I worry about that happening. I am having some issues which are going to require me to have my first mamm-0-gram in the next few weeks. I am scared they are gonna squish my gnobbers so badly that they just might stay that way....

OK so don't forget to play my little contest and win yerself an MP3 Player!

Oh a bloom to be!

Waking up...

Streeeeetching out.....

Cheech and Chong Are Cool!

I have really enjoyed watching these grow from seeds. It is amazing to me how such a tiny little seed can grow into a big and strong stalk and flower, only to then produce more seed for the next cycle of life. I feel kinda like the "Lion King" Daddy presenting his new offspring to the world. (Cheesehead I know) The circle of life is a beautiful thing!

Here is a piece that I have been working on a while now for a special friend of mine. (You know who you are and you should check your email a bit more often!)

I still haven't sent Va-JJ and Shanes wedding gift off yet. I had one from the printers, but it got a bit um.. wet. (Kids are bad - sorry.) I swear I will get it done, please stop being mad at me.....

The box for SpicyBug is sitting ready to be mailed. Has been for weeks.I have no excuse for my retardedness.

The bag for Mackey is overflowing and needs to be mailed. Riley keeps adding shit to it. Dont forget to take out your trash tonight Mack.

If you haven't seen Mar's new bloggy template - go look - it's cool! Melly did a great job once again!

I been working on a new blog
I need to get some more things written down, but it's a bit draining. No comfy marshmellow pillows at that place. I hate all the therapists in this town so I am theraputisizing myself by writing...and writing.....and....

I need to vacuum the pool since it rained in it... but it's a two person job and PPHead has to go to work soon. Gross. Swimming in leaves....

FIREWORKS AT STERLING, KANSAS

11:56 PM Posted In , , Edit This 4 Comments »

This was the show in Sterling, Kansas that was supposed to have taken place on the 4th of July, but was postponed due to rain. There is always a huge crowd every year, and this one was no exception. They put on such an awesome show, right on the edge of the lake, and I tell you it is completely breathtaking. The kids and I had some funnel cake at the carnival and had ourselves a pretty good time. I was very happy to get in these shots!

This is my first bloomed sunflower. Right on time, even with the yucky weather we had. This is what you would call a "true" Kansas Sunflower. There are some more that are getting ready to bloom, but they are the giant sunflowers! I talk to them when I go out and water them...

Seymour the squirrel having his breakfast. I covered a pink straw in peanutbutter and seeds, to see if I could get him to pose nicely for me. But noooo, he just sits beside it, silly sqwirl! I talk to him too, but he just looks at me funny and runs away.

OH MAN! I ran across this blog the other day - The Indian Lake Project.
If you like a good mystery, you should start from the beginning of this guys blog. You will want to read the entire thing. I don't know if it's real, or if it is a piece of fiction, but it is very interesting!

FUN TIMES AND PEACH COBBLER

This was part of our "Grand Finale" fireworks last night. A 500 gram pyro called "The Crystal Ball." It was pretty flippin cool! FIRE! It went up too high for me to catch it all in frame!

This one was at the fairgrounds which is a few miles from my house. For some reason when I zoom in, the pics end up fuzzy. But hey, blurry colors are groovy to me! We got to see fireworks all over town, right from my back yard!

It took us close to 2 hours to shoot off all the fireworks we had stashed in the garage. My Dad and his wife, and Mar and her girls came over to celebrate with us. I think everyone had a pretty ok time?! We had my home made peach cobbler and vanilla ice-cream, and attempted to eat my cherry crisp. (which did not turn out so good) I missed an awesome photo opp while I was rooting around in the pyro box - lightning tore across the sky in the background of all those fireworks! It must have been really awesome, cuz even PPHead got all excited about it!

HAPPY 4TH YA'LL!!

TODAY FROM THE GARDEN

Ohhhhh yeah! My first ripe tomato of the season! Plus another batch of fresh green beans from the garden. Got 99% of the mowing done, the garden pretty much weeded, and it's time to OPEN THE POOOOOOOOL! The water is cold as hell but the kids don't care. I think it may even get to 90 degrees out, and the sun is shining!!!! Yayyyy! Funny how ya have to shower before you can get in the pool and get wet again.
