I love spring so much. It brings back the want and need to get out of the house and exercise a little creativity. Limitless images from just three little tulips I grew myself. I never get tired of the texture a bunch of raindrops can bring to an image!

It is definitely here!! Approximately 60 tornado warnings were issued yesterday in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska. Tonite may be a bit nasty as well, but at the moment it is just raining pretty good. I want to get out in the lightning REAL bad!

Depending on how quickly I can get my shit together, I will be in my very first gallery show with some of my photography!! It is at the college, and will run through the end of May. They are even having a reception for all of the artists that are involved. Too cool.

I have made a little over $100 through CENSORED on my NEVER MIND.
I don't intend to fill up my blogs with CENSORSHIP all the time, but every once in a while I see something I feel like writing about, and if it can make me CENSORED BY GOO, then hey! I am a few bucks closer to getting the new camera of my dreams! (Canon 30D)
My first goal is to make enough cash to have a good time on my trip to Canada in May. I will be there for a week, and I figure I need to raise at least $300 on top of what I already have saved up. Mackey wants to show me around, and well, she also has a serious addiction to Timmy's Tea. I will need at least $100 to get my coffees to match her teas!!
Now after my trip I intend to focus very clearly on saving money for the new camera. I have had the chance to dabble with one in school, and there is absolutely no comparison to the piece of junk I have now. If I am to be completely serious in my profession, I need professional grade equipment! Being that I am a full time student, mom of 3, and still responsible for housework and garden tending, I don't have the time for a full time job just yet to make the money needed for this beautiful piece of heaven!! The best part of it all is that I don't have to leave home to earn the extra money, and I can do it in my pajamas at three in the morning if I want too!! (Yes I am)

Sometimes, we like to drive to nowhere in particular on the spur of the moment. Saturday night we got in the car and drove until we ended up in McPherson, Kansas. We were all hungry for supper, so we decided to try a new place, Perkins Family Restaurant and Bakery.


We were all very impressed at the hugemongo size of the actual dinner plates - bigger than our heads man!!
And the food was really great too - we all had breakfast for supper.

The service we got was absolutely PERFECT as well! Our server was awesome! Our drinks were never empty, and guess what else?? THEY had a smoking room!! SO yup we got to have some smokes like the good ol days!!


I snapped this shot of an almost double rainbow right before we left. I didn't have time to get clear of the house and power lines. It was perty though!



Riley was happy about her pancakes with sprinkles and whip cream!! :)
I was totally impressed with the place, and we will definitely go back when we go back that way too!

Hopefully on Easter weekend, we will pack up the kids, load up the car, and just drive to anywhere for the weekend. I love not knowing where we will end up, and stopping to look at quirky little things. I also love little mom an pop type eateries with food that's a bit different from the norm. I will not however eat the cow balls we saw on special the other night. Noooo noo!!

We had a fun visit with Mel and Mike!! The smoke alarm went off, and I forgot the garlic bread. 10 people - 3 boys....... poooor boys.........they went exploring! Haahaa!! Seriously down to earth and fun loving folks! Summer will be a blast!!
We got to see all of Va-JJ and Shane's wedding pics, and their new house! LUCKYS!!! Gorgeous of course!

My computer clock has not recognized the whole "daylight savings time" issue. Neither has my brain of course, so time is really funky around here lately. Whose bright idea was it anyways?? Oh well, more time to work I guess. I'm about halfway through my spring cleaning - which sucks total ass. I HATE cleaning out closets.
I had an hour long chat with a nurse from Aetna yesterday. She is concerned with my health. How kind. So she gives me the lecture on quitting smoking, taking my meds, losing weight, dadeeedaaaalooo. Tells me I must wear shoes. NO - I hate shoes. Tells me I must go to the dentist and eye-doctor regularly - ok you gonna pay for it?? Blah blah diabetic ok what about my mental health - oh your not covered for that. Yup - she was from the insurance company.

I need some models. Models in exchange for pictures. Who know how to kinda model, or at least listen, and who will sign a release form. I had some ok ones from last nights studio shoot, but no model release. Whine. I have a portfolio to fill damnit!!
At 9am today, I am officially on spring break!! I dunno why they call it a break, cuz I will be busy catching up on the mountains of homework, and spring cleaning my house. I might even have a garage sale at some point. I have way to much shit.
After all that's done, it's time to get a patch tilled and get potatoes and onions put in. Yeeehaaaaaaaaw it's almost garden time!!
Oh yes, it's also allergy season around here. I can't stop sneezing. It's a damn curse!

I am Rebecca Bridges. I was born May 20, 1972 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Ronald D. and Patricia L. Hunt. My childhood was not one of privelege or a wealth of good times. I was sent to my first foster home at age fifteen, an institution at age sixteen, and my final foster home at age seventeen. Weeks before my eighteenth birthday, I was released from the system to fend for myself. I got pregnant with my first child at eighteen and married her father. We divorced after seven years and the birth of our son, whom we gave up for adoption. Our relationship was violent at best. I remarried in 1997 and had two more children, a son, and another daughter. Though I hated the path I took to be a part of their lives, I wouldn't trade knowing them and being their mother for anything in this world. My children come before anything else in this life.
As a teenager, my mother suspected that I suffered from some horrific mental disease, as did many other members of my family, including my father and grandfather. I was around thirty when I was officially diagnosed as having bipolar disorder. The same as my father and his, but now with a new name instead of "manic" depression. I was also diagnosed with OCD, or obsessive compulsive disorder, but in a much milder form than what is commonly perceived by the public. I take medications daily to ease the stresses, but still suffer from bouts of mania, depression, and panic attacks. I don't know what it is like to live like a "normal" person, but I do my best to get up and get on with life everyday.
When I was in the eighth grade, a frustrated teacher put a camera into my hands. It was an old 35mm manual Nikon. I had no idea how to use it, and she sent me out to take photos telling me to just figure it out. I did. I have loved photography with a burning passion ever since. Most of what I know now was self taught, with hours of experimentation, and hundreds of rolls of film. I continue to learn every day. What I can not express in words, or with drawings or paintings, I can capture on film. Photography is my escape from everything.
In 2006, after spending countless months inside my home, I decided it was time to face my fears and do something with myself. With some encouragement and support, I decided to get back into college and finish my degree. I ended my first semester with a spot on The Presidents Honor Roll with a 4.0 GPA. My plans for the future include photography, though I don't yet know if I want to do portraits, sell my artwork, work for a newspaper, or all of it at once. Only time will tell.

Ok - my next door neighbors are selling The Mystery Machine. I looks pretty close to the real thing. I was driving home the other day and the neonish van was suddenly just there! For Sale. Weird.
Tonight I have to write a short autobiography, and then take my own self portrait. GAG! I hate pictures of myself. The writing part should be easy tho.... "I was born a coal miners daughter...." No not really.

It's been another one of THOSE kind of weekends. A bit on the manicky panicky but down in shit kind of weekends. Lots to do, but don't wanna. I did get my passport papers and cash turned in, and I should have it in my hand in about three weeks for when I go to Candadia to see MACKEY!
I smoked alot of cigs. Mackey says they are bad for me, and that we can't smoke at bingo in Canada. That sucks. I apparently suck at bingo to cuz I took Halie and we didn't win a shittin thing.
I baked a cake and wrote the alphabet on it. Typography still sucks.


Hey MACK!! I found out this weekend that you guys had CASCAR - or the Canadian version of NASCAR - but last year was the last year cus NASCAR bought them out and so now it's.. well its just NASCAR. Maybe they will fix up your all's cars for you?!
Montoya won the Busch race in Mexico City. BLah blah. It is almost fitting. Except he's from Columbia. Whatever.
I applied for a job at KOCH INDUSTRIES. I can be a janitor or drill for oil or something. Yup. Not really. Mackey told me to write that.
On Thursday nights at 7:00 pm, I smoke outside Lockman Hall at the college. You know - the big doors facing Plum Street. I like break time.

Some examples of "high side lighting" we have been working on.


This one was my favorite!


I was overjoyed to learn on Thursday that we were allowed to use our digital cameras instead of film!! From this point on, we will have our choice on what to use. This will give me a chance to get in there and see just what my camera is really capable of, and I am soo excited!! These little cuties were brought in by another student to model for us. Part of the lesson was technical - how to set up the lights, how to use a light meter (which is really cool) and how to use a few posing techniques. The other side of the lesson being when you are dealing with photographing children - you have to be funny, and fast! Kids do not sit still and do as you want them too without much entertainment!! It was really fun though. I shot about 24 photos, and these 3 were my favorites! Another reason I prefer digital - you can just toss out the photos that suck and never look back!!

Canadian Kraft Dinner

Ok, so the other day, MACKEY posted a meemeee on her blog and mentioned something about the last time she had KD or Kraft Dinner. I didn't know what in the world she was talking about. So she explains it to me and I am like - "Ohh Kraft Macaroni and Cheese!!" She says "eh?" So we both slapped our boxes of cheesy noodles onto our scanners, and emailed the pics to each other for comparison. Yup - same thing. Just a different box and name. Ours though seems to be even cheesier than before, while hers is really healthy. Hmm.... I wonder what else is kinda different but the same like that??

Here is little Riley's school photo for the spring! I like the new way they are doing pics, but I can't understand why they charge so much for them. Oh well.
