My Marny Frog

It was an interesting Monday here to say the least. First I found my cousin Talya to be in the hospital with a bursted appendix. Not an hour later I find that Journey (Marny's little girl) is in the hospital with possible pnuemonia. She is sleeping in a croup tent, the poor little doll-baby. Seems the sick has taken over around here. Me, Shane Michael and Halie are recovering nicely from having the MONO - gag. I'm not sure if I actually had it or not - cuz I didn't feel as shitty as the kids did. Still, no running around like idiots for those two for a while. Somehow Riley escaped it all with just a little cold. Wheew.
Anywho, I hope ya'll stay on the upside of the sickness, and for those of you that are sick too - feel better soon!

KANSAS IS SO WILD

5:32 AM Posted In , , Edit This 9 Comments »
I have lived in Kansas my whole entire life, and yet I still have an obsession for windmills. This one is still in one piece, but I love the old broken and rusty ones too. Someday, when I get my farm, I will have one. A hugemongo one.

Over the weekend, we had some crazy weather here. There were tornadoes, blizzards, thunderstorms, snow, rain, and winds so strong I thought my roof was going to come off! It's not really the usual February weather for us. I shot these pictures on Friday, when all the different weather events were just kind of swirling around my town. We actually just got the wind, and a few sprinkles of rain. Everyone around us was getting all the crappy stuff. I can't wait for the thunderstorms this spring - lightning!!

When I was little, I used to wonder if you could just take a spoon and scoop up some big fluffs of the clouds. Yummy!

STUDIO - FILM WORK

9:43 AM Posted In , Edit This 6 Comments »

Well I scanned the negative right into my computer and used inverse, just so I could get a look at the photo. So it's kinda crappy. But you get the idea eh? I think I got the lighting perfectly. But I want to crop it to make the composition perfect. This is why I don't like film. There is no instant gratification like there is with digital. This is Shane Michael, who agreed to model for my whole class on Thursday night. He was so worn out by the time we got home, he just crashed! On the upside, I did get to show him how film is processed, and how like magic, an image appears on real photo paper. Probably not something he would have ever seen in his lifetime. In his world, darkrooms and film techniques will most likely be a history lesson.

Ok, now here is another photo, printed and put onto a photo disk from Walgreens. (They did a shitty job cleaning the negatives btw) I turned it around proper and gave it a little TLC in photoshop. The eyes are a bit dark this small I think. The prints I get in the darkroom, and the prints I get from a one hour lab are completely different. I guess they don't have the heart invested in them like I do, so they just print whatever comes out of the machine. How sad.

BEAUTIFUL RAIN

You are always with me when I feel the lightning....
some things, not even time can make you forget.
But you must know how that feels,
because you are here everyday for lunch.

OH MY THUNDERHEADS ETHEL!

THUNDERHEADS

On the agenda for the week.... My plate is too full. I have to create a font for each of two words. "Thunderhead" and "Prisonbreak". In illustrator which I don't know how to use. That should be a riot. (Help me sshhhhannnne!)
Then I have been teamed up with a group to form a business plan. Oh. My. God. If you have ever seen a sample business plan, they are like 8000 ungodly pages long. Our group has decided to open a custom motorcycle shop. Bobble heads or something. So yeah. Im thrilled.
I do love art education class. Today we are making Mardi Gras masks. I loveth my teacher. But I have to do 2 gallery visits, and 3 art teacher observations yet. Yikes!
For photomotography class, I have about 20 prints I need to make in the darkroom, and a session of shooting in the studio. My teacher in this class ROCKS however, so it's not so bad. The darkroom used to be a place I loved, and it is starting to grow on me again. The chemicals are stinky tho.

FALL OUT BOY...... THIS AINT A SCENE.....

I am an arms dealer
Fitting you with weapons in the form of words
And I don't really care, which side wins
As long as the room keeps singing
That's just the business I'm in

This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
I'm not a shoulder to cry on, but I digress

I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate

I wrote the gospel of giving up
(You look pretty sinking)
But the real bombshells have already sunk
(pre-madonnas of the gutter)
At night we're painting your trash gold while you sleep
Crashing not like hips or cars
No, more like p-p-p-parties

This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race

Bandwagon's full. Please, catch another...

I want spring!! I can't wait to start putting in the garden and getting outside more. We have all been stuck in the house all weekend with the yacky flu bug, and the kiddo's will miss another day of school today yet. The cough with this one is just awful. I hate winter.
So sad about Anna Nichole... but it seems kinda fishy to me.
Obama is officially running for president. Wonder if he can beat ol' Hillary?
Time to run off to school for some more edumacation. I hope I don't get snot on my paper.

COMIC RELIEF

My kids crack me up! With all the downers going on and around lately, it was definitely time for something fun in this house. We read the book "Purple, Green, and Yellow" by Robert Munsch. Then we took our very own "super-indelible-never-comes-off-till-you're-dead markers", and colored all over ourselves. Shane of course wanted armpit hair, where little princess Riley just wanted a "brawl". Of course Halie helped with the drawing, cuz it's not often she gets to practice her tattoing skills. At the end of the night came bubble baths of course!!

I am currently working on a curriculum of art lessons, involving 3 childrens books, with seperate art lessons to go with each one respectively. It is kind of fun really, but I dunno if I could handle teaching very many kids at a time. We will be testing our lessons on the unsuspecting daycare kids at school!

Do you have a favorite children's book? I think my absolute favorite kids book is
"Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type" by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin. It makes me laugh histerically every time I read it!
