HUTCHINSON, Kansas - Another round of bomb threats have occurred again today at the Dillons Stores in Hutchinson, Kansas. Three of the stores, located on 4th Street, 5th Street and Adams, and 14th and Main Street, have all received similar threats today.

Businesses in the area of the 14th and main street Dillons store were forced by police order to close up shop due to another round of bomb threats. An officer on the scene said all that was known at this time was that there was a bomb threat called into the store, and that no one was inside except for a few Dillons employees and law enforcement working the case. Streets have been blocked off around the area as well. It is unknown at this time if the caller was the same person as the one who made the threatening phone calls yesterday morning to the Dillons Store on 30th Street, or the same Dillons Store on 14th.

Law enforcement check the propane tank storage unit outside the 14th and Main Dillons Store for evidence of the possible presence of a bomb.

Streets have been barricaded and residents asked to avoid the area due to the possibly dangerous situation. At this point there are no reports of injuries or hostages being taken. There has however, been a demand for money.

HFD personnel wait for information.

The TV people live on the air.... more as it comes in.

Above is a map with the locations of the Dillons Stores pinned in blue. Hutchinson is a community of about 40,000 people.

UPDATE: 1:45 PM - Police believe that only the threat at the 14th and Main Dillons Store was related to yesterdays bomb threats. It is speculated that the other two were hoaxes. All three stores are now cleared and open for business.

Proof that there isn't any shortage of stupidpeople in the world. I hope it all turns out peacefully.

Just love the idiots in this world who think it's funny to poke fun with something like this. Hope they get this cleared out soon.

My son-in-law works for Dillons and he said a long time ago that the propane tanks sitting outside could easily be a target for anyone wanting to do harm.

It is definitely a strain on the city's resources. Scammers will stop at nothing if they think they can make a buck.

Does your town of bomb sniffing dogs? Or would that be out of the budget for your town? It sure would help the police much better. Hope they catch these nutters.

KSHIPPYCHIC said...

I think we do have some dogs... but I didn't personally see them being used for these incidents.

Apparently this is something that has been happening across the United States, and the man that made at least one of the phone calls did so from Portugal! INsane!

Hi KHC - thanks for your visits to my blog. I didn't catch the news yesterday, but heard about the Dillon's bomb scares today. What a deal.

It's a damn shame that "Small Town America" has to cope with these nuts.
I really do wish that this stuff was confined to the asphalt jungles of the "Gotham Cities" of the world.
I'm not at all sure what the solution is, but I sure hope that there is one.

All is well that ends well. No one was hurt, and things seem to be back to normal..... for now anyways.

I saw on the news last night they had traced the calls and were questioning people... Hope they get the ones behind all this!

I heard this morning that they actually are questioning five people and had traced one of yesterdays calls to one of those people's telephone. The first day's calls came from someone else.
