Riley has come down with a case of the "SHINGLES"
The school nurse thought it was poison ivy, but as soon as the doctor looked at her - he knew what it really was. Riley had the chicken pox vaccine, and then a mild case of chicken pox a few months later. I strongly believe that this "immunization" will prove to be doing more harm than good in the long run. I think it is what has caused this for my daughter. She is in some amount of pain, but mostly just miserable. And this could take a very long time to go away. The doctor says she didn't "catch" it, but rather it is an internal virus that can pop up and cause shingles if you have ever had chicken pox. It is fairly rare in children of her age. She got an anti-viral medication that she has to take 4 times a day, and she cannot go to school all next week for sure. Maybe longer depending on her next visit, next friday. I am just stunned. Poison ivy would have been much easier to deal with. Apparently this is so uncommon, that the doctor paraded her all around the office so all of the nurses could see what it looks like. He made them guess at first, and none of them got it right. Riley is calling it the "nasty pox". I CANNOT GET THIS - If I do - oh my god..... school.... I'm trippin just a bit now. I only hope it doesn't get as bad as they say it can. Please keep my baby in your thoughts....
And for those with small kids - please research and think twice before aggreeing to the varicella vaccine.

OH NO POOR LITTLE ONE!!!

I was fortunate enough not to get chicken pox when i was a kid, however, i got them when I was 23 years old, and I was paraded around the office just like your little girl was, because they just couldn't believe that I had the chicken pox, first he thought I had small pox, I flipped the fuck out when he said that!!! No I am at risk for shingles, so I feel your baby's pain, give her gentle hugs for me!!

Owwwwwwwwwwww that looks icky & painful! Poor little RR!

I'm regrettin that my kids got vaccinated too...if they end up getting the chicken pox in middle or high school...it'll be much more difficult in terms of school & all that shit. Dayum.

Definetely think twice people.

Good advice. I got my kids vaccinated but not for chicken pox. I figured the death rate is pretty low, I got it when I was a kid, I remember suffering, but then it's over.

Sure nuff, they got it, at almost four and almost two years old. And then, done.

the idea of sticking a disease into a kid to prevent disease...well it makes sense in an antibody kind of way, but only for the truly bad ones. We don't want our kids to suffer with anything...but it's a hard choice!

Have you tried sticking her in the tub with some oatmeal? Sounds goofy but it really eases the itch.

Poor Riley. I hope that she's feeling better soon, and I was going to suggest an oatmeal bath, also. Here's something to think of when it comes to the Chicken pox: My daughter got them when she was about 4. A couple of kids in class came to school infected thinking that it was no big deal. My daughter is diabetic, and the chicken pox could've killed her.
It's a scary thought, but it's true. Course, not even I realised at the time how serious it was. Thankfully. I would've gone crazy.
I'll keep your little one in my thoughts...

Oh poor baby. I have never heard of a child getting it. I was even surprised to hear Shane got it cuz it normally pops up in your late 40's and 50's (my mom got them in her 50s).

Give her big hugs for me and huge wishes to get better super fast! It sucks but hopefully she'll recover quickly. And fingers are crossed for you that you don't come down with it either.

Hmmmm never seen it on an arm before. Poor baby!

My mom had it and one of my foster kids had it when she was like 9. Both had it on their lower back and stomach.

Anyways, the oatmeal thing really does work. Not a cure but relieves the irritation and for the kids anyways, provides a distraction.

My prayers are with her and you.

jaysus, that sucks. So much for modern medicine fixing things. Getting a whole buncha vaccienes @ once probably messed up my son's brains and made his autism worse.

Me heart goes out!
